Yard-long beans - also called Asparagus Bean or Chinese Long Bean - are a vigorous warm-season annual. These Red Noodle beans have an unusual purple-red color, and are a well known variety in southern China. The beans can grow up to 22" long.
Used in many Chinese dishes, these beans (which turn green with cooking) and be used to replace standard string beans in any dish - deep-fried, stir-fried, steamed or used in soups.

Well I haven't grown them yet, but they are a popular crop in southern China, so I gather that they do well in hot weather...that's a good thing, I think: my regular beans didn't like the hot weather we have up here (hi 80's to a bit over 100 occasionally) ...I've read that these red noodle beans will keep on cranking out the beans in the heat.
