Questions & Comments
What does gold flaked mean as I just won this exact same ring from another seller on here and was told it was real 14K gold and the stamp says 14K FG to the G is oddly shapped and I read online it was the manufacturer's mark so I am confused lol?
FG is Filled Gold Hon it is a mix of gold and other metals. Don't kid yourself this is not a cheap ring they are more durable and last a lot longer and a little heave yer Good luck
The mark that is F with a G looking triangle shape is a trademark Trademark for Frederick Goldmanand it is actually solid 14k. If a ring is Gold filled the normal marking would be GF.My wedding band had the same mark and was bought at a high end jewelers new. It was solid and pure 14k no alloys, fillers, plating, layering or anyother than pure 14k gold. Here is a little info you may want to copy and save somewhere for future reference: Gold that is not solid is normally marked GF (Gold Filled), HGE (Heavy Gold Electroplate), HGEP (Heavy Gold Electro Plate), E (Eletroplate), GE (Gold Electroplate). It isn’t marked FG as for it purity or as for it being plated. FG stand for the makers Initials and is actualy trademarked Still have concerns just google Trademark for Frederick Goldman or 14k FG I'm going to get a link up here to explain or show Goldmans TradeMark. Not trying to step on any toes here it's just a topic that comes up all the time on all the auction sites and can really effect the outcome of someones auction. I'll be bidding on this one as if it were solid 14k and don't want to see you sell yourself short. If there are any other marks in this ring then thats another story. It is the Capital F with the wierd triangle shaped capital G isn't it? Sorry to ramble but like I said, been through this one many times. Thanks for listing it, Tony
It is stamped 14k f g that looks like a triangle. the ring was given to me and i was told it was tested by a cash for gold place and they said it was gold flaked. that is all i know.
of course they did :) people, please... I'm begging you. Do Not Take Your Gold Items To A cash for gold party, pawn shop, or cash for gold shop. I will buy at a fair price if you really want to sell it or take it in for an appraisal at a reputable jewelry shop preferable a Branded Jeweler to get an honest opinion. Tell them you need an insurance appraisal. Go google gold flake and see what comes up :). Their are predatory gold buyers out there with the gold market so crazy rite now making a fortune on people. :( If I had the money to back it I would start having gold parties on my own and give folks a fair price. It's just a shame. I honestly think its genuine solid 14k gold and like I said earlier, I will be bidding on it as such :) good luck my friend, T
Try this, Google "what does 14k gold flake ring mean" You will not get an answer. If this were a common terminology in the industry there would be 10,000 hits on it. OK I'll shut up now, sorry for the rant folks.
