The listing, Long White Table Runner or Scarf has ended.
This listing is for a long, white table runner or dresser scarf. It is 36" long by 12 1/2" wide. The crochet work is done in the peacock theme so popular in the early 40s before rationing was the rule of the day. The colors are not a vibrant as they were when this was new, but they are a muted lavender with faded peachy pink roses embroidered around the body of the lavender embroidered peacock body. That fan tail for the peacock is crocheted with variegated lavender thread and crocheted onto the body of the runner. I can see no holes or spots on this dresser scarf, and it is in very good shape considering its age. I have ironed and starched it myself so it is clean and ready for use when it arrives in your home. Storage should be done without the use of any type of plastic because plastic traps moisture and can ruin linens. All linens should be stored in a dry closet with non-acidic white tissue paper inserted into the folds and between each piece of linen. That way they will last for a lifetime or more. This belonged first to my grandmother and then to my mother and I used it in our home in Texas, so it hasn't been sitting in some closet or cedar chest. It has been used but used carefully, and laundered as needed. The condition is close to pristine, but I won't call it that because of the fading of the threads used for embroidery and crocheting.
