Description

The listing, Lot of 4 1944 60% Iran Silver Rial Coins w/ 1 Rial & 2, 5, & 10 Rials EXQUISITE! has ended.

My entry-level digital camera cannot pick up the exquisite detail of these 4 coins, which have incredible detail that I cannot capture from the crowns to the lion's body to the various other artistic features of each coin, all of which have been demonetized.

For auction is a lot of four (4) Iranian 60% Silver coins, shown in picture 1 on the "radiant lion with scimitar (curved sword) side," all dated 1944 which were produced under the familiar Shah of Iran, Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, who left in 1979, when the Ayatollah Khomeini came into power after much upheaval. A condensed history of this time can be found at http://www.nyu.edu/greyart/exhibits/iran/briefhistory/

Pictures 2 and 3 show the 10 Rials coin in EF+ approaching AU in condition, diameter 32 mm, which is larger than a U.S. half dollar @ 30.6 mm in diameter, weight 16 g, actual silver weight (ASW) of 0.3016 oz., with a catalog value of $14+, meaning that the coin is worth more than its silver content, as are all the coins in this lot.

Pictures 4 and 5 show the 5 Rials coin, in F+, diameter 26 mm (larger than a U.S. quarter @ 24.3 mm), weight 8 g, ASW of .1543 oz.

Pictures 6 and 7 show the 2 Rials coin, in F, diameter 22 mm (almost as large as a U.S. quarter), weight 3.2 g, ASW of .0617 oz.

Pictures 8 and 9 show the 1 Rial coin, in VF-, diameter 18 mm, weight 1.6 g, ASW of .0309 oz.

The total silver in the lot is 0.5555 oz., although the GIN reflects the actual value of the coins, which is over and beyond their silver melt value.

These coins were brought back from Iran by my step-father who served there during WWII.

Shipping will include tracking, and each of the coins will be placed in 2x2s with mylar protection.

Thank you for looking at this auction, and be sure to look at the others including the stamps since I am selling out of them!
Just like these coins will never be minted again, neither will most of the numerous historical stamps that are for auction be printed
