This is an AVON single salt shaker from the 1876 Cape Cod Collection; it is new in the original box. It is approximately 4 1/8" tall and the base is a hexagon approximately 1 5/8" across.

The fragrance (it's nice!) remains in the container and when it is gone, this can be used as a salt shaker.

These are a deep ruby glass and are beautiful!

The Boston & Sandwich Glass Works, founded on Cape Cod in 1825, was famous for its pressed glass with elaborate, lacy designs, fine stippling, and sparkling brilliance. So popular were these "Sandwich" pieces that the name became a generic term for pressed glass.

One of these lacy designs, "Roman Rosette," was the inspiration for this Avon shaker. Its name commemmorates the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition where the 100th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence was celebrated, as well as the area where Sandwich glass originated.
