Great point, and I see wer eyou are coming from. I own a DVD rental business, and have several different codes for the same movie since I purchase multiple copies. EAch new auction is for a new, entirely different and valid code. I appreciate your comment.

No problem. This slip of paper comes in the DVD case. It gives you a website and a code. You go to the website and register and then when prompted you put in the code and you have access to that movie on any device with internet access. at least that is my understanding as I have never done it either.
