The listing, Icart Christmas Card has ended.
This 7 1/2" x 5 3/4 " Ivory colored card is by the famous Icart , internationally known artist, and was produced for a Christmas Card for Mary Chester Guild(I'm not sure if she was his customer or if it was a Guild named after "Mary Chester". I did a quick search on the internet but found nothing like this little card, Louis Icart was born in Toulouse , France in 1888 and died in 1950 in Monmartre , and produced many, many etchings, and prints. He was best know for his "Art Deco "women, and was quickly discovered by Hollywood collectors to the pointhe couldn't keep up with demand. He also did a number or erotic images, and also bronze scultptures. This card appears to be a real print ,possibly a litho and is signed in the plate, I have no way to verify that except I am an artist myself , and if you look at the bottom right it says "Maquet Gr." I take to mean Maquet was the engraver(or printer), Again I tried to find info about the printer but found nothing, except a card on Abe Books of Maquet Gravures,Rue De La Paix,No. 10, Paris. that is being sold by a rare book dealer, and is a trade card, and the only one I could find, which would be a nice addition to have with this Icart card .
