Description
The listing, Vintage Japanese Mortar Grinding Earthenware Bowl has ended.
The Suribachi is a Japanese mortar used to crush sesame seed as well as for various pastes. It is used with a pestle called a surikogi (not included).
This is a handmade Suribachi, and I purchased it about 20 years ago. The man who I purchased it from said he acquired it 15-20 years before that, so this is about 40 or so years old.
It is new and unused and can easily be used in today's kitchen for herbs and to make other pastes.
