Description
The listing, Wayne Gretzky 1979 O-Pee-Chee Rookie! has ended.
This auction is for a flawless, mint condition reprint of the famous 1979 O-Pee-Chee Rookie Card of the greatest hockey player to ever play the game! It is virtually impossible to tell this reprint from the real thing unless you are very experienced in card collecting. This card has been fraudulently sold on e-bay and amazon for years to unsuspecting victims. An actual Gretzky rookie card easily sells for over a thousand dollars in mint condition but you can have this stunning reprint for free on Listia!
Questions & Comments
how many more of these you got bro? they are great. put mine with my other Gretzky cards after you sent it to me.
This is the last one unfortunately but I found a few Patrick Roy and Mario Lemieux rookies that I'm trying to determine if they are reprints or not before I list them.
Paul, do you know how to tell a reprint from the real thing on Lemieux or Roy? I can't find anything on the net and these cards came from an out of business sports shop. Stored in penny sleeves usually means reprint tho.
patrick roy. the opc logo in the upper corner has a dotted effect on all reprints and the blue and white down by his name bleeds together weirdly. cheap printing process.
mario lemieux. these can be tricky. check out the penguins logo. look for black and gold separation. fakes tend to be dotted and bleed funny. the back of the fakes also have bleeding in the maroon. good luck. I would be interested either way.
Thanks Paul. If I am able to post some pics later on, can you look at them for me please? Flawless cards stored in penny sleeves indicates reprint to me but it never hurts to get a second opinion.
if you private message me I will give my number to you so you can text. but I think it might be better to have a card shop owner look them over with a magnifying glass. plus, what if I was dishonest? you would have better peace of mind having a neutral third party look at them.
I'll post pics for you to look at in case you're interested anyway. I'll also run the down to a sports card shop and have him take a look for me. I should have done all this 10 years ago when I bought all of this inventory in the first place. Thanks again for your help Paul.
sounds good bro. either way I like these reprints. they look good in any collection. would definitely go for roy, the second greatest goalie ever, and super mario.
excellent card....even if it a reprint. When I was in high school in the 90's my teacher had rack packs with Gretzky's card on the top showing unopened.
