No, the lens extends several different times if you need it to. For zoom and red-eye removal.

How well does this camera work? Like is the battery life good?

I would be happy to post some pics that were taken with this camera. It is awesome, and it takes some of the best pics I have seen. I got a smaller one with more megapixels that is just a miniature of this one and it too takes awesome pics. 2 Lithium AA batteries will last you 6 months or more if you take an average amount of pics. You take alot, about 4 1/2 months. Hope that helps.

Ok folks, remember; go over 10,000 and you get a carrying case with arm band and and camera to pc cord. Great for downloading pics to you pc......good luck
