I love Listia!! Winner gets four separate plants. Perfect for growing fresh tasty san andreas strawberries. Growing tips
Put a teaspoon of slow-release or concentrated organic fertilizer in the planting hole for each strawberry plant. Cover with about an inch of soil to prevent root burn. Strawberries may need to be fertilized several times during the growing season.
Set plants at the level they had been growing. Planting too low leads to rot. Setting plants too high can cause roots to dry.
Strawberry plants need consistent water, but soil must drain well. Standing water causes root rot.
Pinch off runners to get larger plants with bigger berries. Offsets can be allowed to grow for a bigger yield of smaller berries.
Replace older plants every few years with offsets or new plants.
