Acer palmatum

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
Considered an investment, the Japanese Maple is one of the most sought after (and expensive) of the Maple species. Prized for its petite size of 15-20 feet, the small ornamental with its glossy green leaves and tendency to cascade (usually towards the shade) really puts on a show all year long...YET...fall is when this star of the garden truly shines! Watch daily as the foliage changes hues from yellow, orange, bronze, purple and finally a vibrant red

Plant somewhere special so you don't miss any of the action!

These seeds are extremely fresh, healthy and ready for EASY germination!

Place dry seeds in zip lock bag, seal, place in fridge (lettuce compartment) in Nov for March germination or Dec for April germination. You will see seeds sprouting in the bag. Lay sprouting's on top of moistened soil and sprinkle 1/4 soil on top, place in warm sun light. Move outside after last frost.

ZONES: 5-8 Full sun-Part shade. HEIGHT: 15-20'
Check your zone here: http://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/PHZMWeb/

I have one Japanese maple tree. I love its still in infant stage as its only bout 3ft. tall. the leaves are a dark brown and I haven't seen them red. is this a different kind of j.maple? I know they have several different varieties and would love to have this one. Do the leaves stay red all year or change in the fall?

Hey Kelly...yes, there are countless types of Japanese Maple. This one is called Acer palmatum and used as the stock plant for propagating the many others. The grower tells me these seeds were collected during this summer and you can see the vibrant red in them...so my guess is it has a brilliant red showing during summer. As for your little one...give it time, their noted for their change of colors :) One other thing about growing trees from seed...they may not look or act like their mother, the only way to have a perfect match of any tree is by grafting. ps...check out the one call "Bloodgood" it's a serious deep red and beautiful variation.

Not to worry...I have plenty of these and may start offering more as they need to begin their hibernation period in the fridge for 90-120 days + seedling grow time before that last frost. For folks in the warmer zones this will be soon, while colder zones still have between Dec-Jan.
