The listing, 20 Rare Garlic Vine Seeds has ended.

South America's Mansoa alliacea or false garlic is the new super vine everyone is raving about...BUT no one can find!

Considered "Good Luck" this beauty doesn't belong to the garlic family, yet when its leaves are disturbed it produces a garlic like sent which acts as a natural mosquito repellent.

But the real buzz about this striking climber is its display of "three" fast growing colored blooms on the same plant! Lavender, pale lavender and white tubular flowers overflow this hardy vine most of the the year. This plant will bloom in mild cold, but not freezing temperatures.

This plant is great for containers. Flowers appear on new growth so careful with the pruning! Seeds packaged in glassine bag with color picture and germination instructions. FREE SHIPPING

HAPPY PLANTING!

This is why I want this one :)
The garlic vine is well known for its leaves that emit a garlicky smell only when crushed. Its blossoms also give off a faint garlic odour but one need not worry about the garden smelling like the kitchen spice when in flower. Because of this characteristic, it is not surprising that the plant can be used as a substitute for garlic in the kitchen. The entire plant such as roots, stems and leaves have medicinal uses and are used to reduce fevers, treat colds, throat, and respiratory
troubles. http://gardeningwithwilson.com

But you forgot the most important thing...it's a good luck plant meant to keep away "bloodsuckers" therefore your garden will be free of those pesky Vampires :)

And I want this one since it grows well in Zones 9-11 (I'm in 9b) in full sun & its non-invasive! That makes it very attractive to me. :)

I'm looking for several vines or climbing plants to go around my garden and you have some wonderful things I hoping to get. I'll keep my fingers crossed. lol
N.C. is great!
What is the flower on your profile picture. I saw it somewhere but don't remember. lol
I've had a couple of vines that have die in winter and that is frustrating and costly. so with you living here you'll know if will survive. Great!!!!

Ohhh, I don't know...I've been known to take out a few plants myself!! Poor things. But, we are in a pretty good zone for most vines to act a perennials. Just remember to mulch about 6" out from the base of your plants to keep the roots either cool or warm as needed. I'm working on a Vine Club where we can all trade grow secrets and pics and will let you know when it's up and running :)))

Oh, the bio pic is called Psychotria Elata and nicknamed "Hot Lips"...it's a very rare beauty indeed. What you may have recognized was it's resemblance to both Mick Jagger and his "Hot Licks" logo, which many suspect derived from this plant :)
