Much of the story has been gleaned from the letters of Captains Raymond & Paul Demere, commanders of Fort Loudoun whose reports to their superiors are recorded in the South Carolina Indian Affairs volumes.
This booklet funds were used to help in the reconstruction of Fort Loudoun.
