Description
The listing, Franklin D. Roosevelt Coin has ended.
This was my uncles little collectible before he passed away. I have been holding on to it for a few years now and I really don't know what to do with it. I am hoping that it finds a great home!
In the middle: Inaugurated President March 4 1933 (I believe it says the 4th. It is small print) January 20 1937 January 20 1941 January 20 1945 (Like I said, I believe these are the dates. It is very small print, lol.) Died April 12 1945
I have looked that darn coin over many many times and I don't see a date on it. I may be missing it. Here is what I could find on it:
United States Mint Presidential Series Stock Medal # 131 Memorial Reverse 3 inch (76mm) "High-Relief" Bronze
Designer (Obverse/Reverse): John Ray Sinnock
Other Sizes Struck: Stock Medal # 732 1-5/16 inch "coin-relief" bronze
Interesting Notes: This is the fifth and finial version of the Franklin D. Roosevelt U.S. Mint Presidential Series medal. The obverse after changes made during the first term remained unchanged for the duration. The reverse differs for each term culminating with this memorial reverse.
Pretender Identification Tip: The reverse design of this version of the U.S. Mint Presidential series Franklin D. Roosevelt medal was designed after his death April 12, 1945 as a memorial issue. It superseded all previous issues and is the one current today. If you order one from the U.S. Mint this is what you'll get. As explained with previous multi-term medals from this series no official inaugural medals to date had ever made mention to the exact date of a previous inauguration nor to the death of the President.
I am sorry, I honestly can't tell you. If you read my reply to the comment above, that is all I found on this coin. I know nothing about collecting these coins or whatever. I just know it is a collectible. I am sorry I couldn't be of any help with the base metal.
to "latedays" question as to the base metal, I believe it is bronze. The lister staed in the answer to another question that in the information he could find it says "3 inch (76mm) "High-Relief" Bronze". If thats any help. Nice auction.
