The listing, Old Native American Mocassins, Beaded!! has ended.

This is a pair of old Native American Mocassins that have been hand beaded. They are worn out a bit, but still very collectable. Made of leather, & all hand stitiched. I thought someone out there would appreciate them. The winning bidder pays exact shipping through paypal. I can only guess about $10.00 to the USA, but it could be more, depending on where it is going. Within Canada varies a lot, the closer you are to ON, the lower the cost will be. Sold as is. I disagree, mommaharper. The moccasin with the center seam is a Northeastern style. The Great Plains style tended to be a 2-piece (top and bottom soft sole). Check this map (http://www.nativetech.org/clothing/moccasin/mocmap.html) for reference. Also, the Blackfoot name was derived from the dark color of their moccasins, and these are very pale in color. They look very much like those worn in the Great Lakes area by Chippewa. That would make sense too, since they were acquired in Ontario.

Reading the comments...I'd say these are the real deal. I have a friend here in AB whose kookum still makes them by hand for her family and they look very similar. ;-)

Depends where you are. I am in Canada, (Barrie, ON) It will definitely be a lot more than $5.00, if you are in the USA. I do not have an exact quote, as I would have to take them to the post office to find out. I know our postage prices are quite a bit higher then they are in the USA. With my own Native American heritage from the New England/Canadian region, and my love for beading, these moccasins would be awesome to own! I'd love to be able to learn more about the beading from seeing them up close and personal.

You know what I don't know, but I would guess $6.00 or $8.00? Canada Post put there prices up again, but you are not that far from me, so I can't see it being over $10.00 anyway. 12 X 6 Package, under 1 pound, from L4N 5G8. Well we really have no way of knowing for sure who made them. They are not signed, or if they were it has worn off. My mom bought them at an estate sale several years ago. There was a nice collection of NA items, but she could not afford most of them. BY looking at them, it was someone skilled in making mocs & beading, so I would think it was likely a NA person, but I have no way of knowing for sure. Thanks, Zen.
