yes maps are up-gradable, there is no manual but you can download it off internet. Its loaded withe all current maps. you just have to change it to your area buy putting your home in address in it as home and it will pick up your area maps.

Its about 1 year old not used a lot only used it for photograph class i took I have a pro one now with many lenses and i don't ever use this any more. its a great camera you can change how it taks photos to what you what its a great learning camera
