what all types of of material can you do this to? canvas only?

Oh goodness no! Canvas is actually kind of new for us, we've done about a dozen or so pairs like this :) We can do canvas, leather (real or fake), most fabrics, suede... to put it simply, I'm yet to run across a pair of shoes we can't do based on the material it's made of

How durable are these since it's just cut out comic strips? how did you waterproof them? I just want to make sure that they can hold up to ware and tear.

They're surprisingly durable, since it's more than just the strips - I wouldn't use them as your favorite running shoes, but they will hold up to a lot of general wear and tear. I use a few things to completely waterproof the shoes; this pair was sprayed with waterproofing solution before the images went on and also after a layer of clear finishing spray had dried. Wet socks are a personal pet peeve :-P

All the pictures are cut by hand from actual comic books. No websites, no paint, just some very friendly comic shops and LOTS of hours with an x-acto knife :)
