Hope I can win this for my son in Michigan, so he can apply for job's online. Nice auction! Nice for JMLARES to offer the WiFi wireless adapter. Thank's!

Don't know why people complain... this would be perfect for my twin 5 yr olds espicially with the Wi-Fi. They love to play online games and constantly battle over who's turn it is. I learned my lesson by buying my 10 yr old a new laptop for $600 and in less than a year she has busted it. With this it would calm the battles and if they spill a glass of juice on it and short it out I'm not out a ton of money. Besides as long as it has a USB port who cares if it has a drive.

Yes, you're very correct! I got mine (12yrs old) a cheapie off of ebay for $115 (good thing not more) and she had it ruined in less than 6 months!! As I said, this is a perfect cheap starter for a child.
Hope you read all the comments, this doesn't have WiFi, but can be added via USB or PC card. Thanks for the comment!!

Just in case some people don't know, $14. for flat rate from the PO is all it is going to cost. Anywhere in the U.S. A good deal!

I's wave soldered. They have a machine that puts a tiny dab of solder paste on the board, another one that places the processor. Then the board goes into an oven to bake. The baking melts the solder. Doing it by hand is a Bee-awtch! Been there, did that. Don't wanna again.

Yes, I know that to be true. But when for someone else, it is rough. For yourself, it should be rewarding. Try soldering with a cigarette lighter and a paper clip, NOW that is worse, but it works when you don't have access to a soldering iron!! :) :)

It would be nice if they made the processors so they could be upgraded, though. Being able to add memory and a larger HD is nice, but, to keep up, you need to be able to install a faster processor. But, this will work for very basic stuff.

Well, if you can solder, you can change the processor. You just have to remove the old one, and solder in a new one :) :)

Yes, just because they are old, doesn't mean that they are dead. There are still many uses for these older version PCs, but they can also be upgraded to a very nice one too.

This would actually be an awesome computer to use on a home network for either an ftp/file server or as a mail server. Neither of which requires a very fast processor to work just nicely.

I can accept whatever you're willing to send, but for future reference it is really easy and Free to open a PayPal account. All you need is a credit card and a second form of payment for verification, and the site is totally secure. I've been using it for 5 years now.

I understand about the shipping, because I send out a lot for Listia. It's close to $15. for a large flat rate box. Very reasonable for something that large. Does it have WiFi? Thank's.

No, sorry no WiFi, but you can buy or bid on a wireless USB adapter or Wireless PC card which will insert into the PC Card Slot. It's very simple now-a-days to get WiFi.

awesome auction hun!!!
as for shipping your right on target at 14.00.
i don't know if you use flat rate boxes, but the shipping would come out to about that for a medium flat rate box and is even a little bit less then what it would cost for a large flat rate.
and it is insured, so that right there is well worth the shipping.
i know i will definitely be watching this one.

@CharlieBMore $100 insurance means if it gets lost or broken during shipping, the shipping company will reimburse you up to $100... the total if you win is US $14.00, Canada $31.50 & China $49.00 plus the credit ... which I find reasonable, and I'm in Canada...

anyways, does it have wifi?

Picture?type=square&access token=105469222550%7cd qfyki0ggnddypmnoq3ykmtsyq
No, this doesn't. You have to realize, Windows 98. It is old, but you would be better off purchasing a newer version, ie...XP, Vista or 7, since Microsoft no longer updates 98, nor does Windows.
Still, it is a running computer, as is could be a starter for a child. Inexpensive enough to you that if it gets broke it won't break the bank. But if for yourself, a gamer or online fanatic, you're better off upgrading the OS.
Thanks for watching!!

I would love to bid however, Im a bit confused. The shipping to the US will be 14$ Plus a additional 100$ for, um, confermation & tracking? Thats beyond me, do correct me if im wrong, and if im not your expecting to get 144$ +The credits that are bid?
Jan 19th, 2011 at 10:26:45 AM PST by
Picture?type=square&access token=105469222550%7cd qfyki0ggnddypmnoq3ykmtsyq
No, you did misunderstand. The shipping is as stated: $14 US, $31.50 Canada and $49 International, est to China. That is total shipping. I just stated that no matter where it goes, it is being sent with $100 insurance, which is already calculated into the quoted shipping price.
So, if you were to win it, you would just submit the credits, and upon winning I would give you my PayPal address and you would send $14 to my account to cover shipping. Sorry if you got confused. I just wanted prospective bidders to know that this item was being shipped with Insurance, so they would bid with confidence that they would get their item, and it was insured.
I hope this clears up your concerns.
