This is a St Brigid's Cross, made in Ireland by Brian O'Sullivan of Hillgrove Porcelain, Carhan, Cahirciveen, County Kerry, Ireland.

St Brigid, one of the 3 patron saints of Ireland, wove her crosses from the rushes (reeds) of the river Shannon. In Ireland, it is traditionally hung above the front door as protection for the family who dwells there.
