Description
The listing, Medieval Turkey Silver Coin 1301-1460AD has ended.
The coin is old, the coin is in decent condition, the coin is AWESOME. A chance to own a piece of history!!!
The coin is Islamic, a silver akche from an obscure Turkish dynasty known as the Jandar, or Isfendiyarids. They ruled a semi-independent principality in what is now northern Turkey from roughly 1301 to 1460. The text on the reverse of the coin is backwards; either the photo has been mirror-flipped or the die used to make your coin was cut backwards. The coin does not bear a name or date but has been somewhat conjecturally dated in Album's revision of the Marsden catalogue to the reign of prince 'Adil, roughly AD 1345.
If any of you have any doubts to the true value of the coins, do us both a favor and DON'T bid. I won't be placing anymore auctions on this site ever again. I will stick with E-Bay. These last 4 auctions I have up will be the end. I came on here to have fun and offer people great deals on the items I offer. Why? Simply because I sell for a hobby, I live 300 miles to the closest town of any size. Its hard to find things to fill all the free hours. A lot of the items I have offered on here I will never get anything back to their real value, but that is OK, if it bothered me I wouldn't do it. I won't have my integrity questioned, especially when Listia has it set up to protect the buyers. I pay the shipping, and get no creds till the buyer decideds they are happy. In that time, the buyer could take the item to a coin dealer and asked them what they thought. Discovering just how real it is.
No one is questioning your personal integrity. Even coin dealers get shafted with a fake from time to time and even official paperwork can be forged. Unfortunately, these coins in particular are forged time and time again.
