I don't really understand gin on here- why is it always a super-inflated number?

GIN, or Get It Now is the bid you (the seller) would want in order to end the auction immediately and ship it straight to the winner. When I set a GIN for my auctions I base it on the value of the auction items. For example, if I'm offering $8.00 worth of items, I would set the GIN around 3,000. But, yes, you are right, many sellers do set the GIN price really high. I have to admit, though, even I have paid really high GIN prices if the auction is for something I really, really want.
