Google "USPS postage calculator" and it will pull up how much it costs. If you can afford it you get WAYYYYY more credits if you offer free shipping. This won't cost more than $2.97 to ship with tracking to anywhere in the US & it's territories

That's defiantly higher than it should be. I ship stuff like this alllllll the time. If you go the cheapest route + tracking (90c) it's no more than 2.97

I just looked it up with your zip code- I put that it weighs half a lb (which is WAY more than it does) and it only cost $2.92

Indeed. You'll never get many credits by charging shipping, but it's all up to you. When you go to the post office ask for the cheapest shipping route + tracking. Chances are you were paying for unnecessary upgrades and that's why it cost so much.
