1991 copyright ET (the movie) Universal Studios Hollywood California USA flat rolled penny souvenir coin.
We have all see the penny rollers at tourist stops. This is where you place your penny, along with usually two quarters in to a machine at the entry to some gift shop. Then you either chose a design from those offered, press a button, or turn a crank, causing the penny to get smashed between two rolling steel dies forcing the impression of the design you selected into one side of the penny. The two quarters fell into the vending machine for the machine owner.
Many time those dies have limited edition images, dated designs that you can only get for a short time, during a particular event, or year.
That is what you see here.
It is back when ET movie was still popular and Universal Studios Hollywood, CA created an attraction in the early 1990s when this rolled penny die was used.
The penny used in this creation was a modern post-copper mintages when pennies are zinc and copper plated. If the coin was pre-82 then the white-like stretches around the image would be copper, not zinc color.
