The listing, The Old Homestead has ended.
Another print for the person who prefers the fantasy of the illustrator's imagery to the reality of the photographer's art. One of a limited edition of 25, this depiction of the centuries-old log buildings also belongs to the Raw Woods and Old Stones Collection.
The viewer gazing at the quiet scene is drawn, not only into the past, but into the scene, with an urge to run across the field toward the log barns and buildings to peek into windows. Why is that hole in the top of barn wall? And that small stable in the left corner?
That is the 'grant house'; the first house built by the original homesteaders all 18' x 20' of it. Building and living in that log house was but the first of the many requirements the homesteaders faced to prove their right to ownership of the land grants.
The print, 12" wide by 8" high, is matted ready for framing. Signed and numbered on the back and on the mat
