The listing, Antique / VINTAGE Old ELGIN POCKET WATCH For Repair or Parts has ended.

Up for bid is an old Elgin pocket watch. This was in a bunch of stuff that was left to my hubby when his father passed.

Neither of us know anything about pocket watches, and we don't even know how to open this one (without damaging it). So you get it as found.

It is not working, and the hand for the small dial at the bottom of the face is loose inside the case (you can see it beside the number 8). Both the minute and hour hands are there, but the hour hand is under the minute hand, so it doesn't show. Age / metal unknown, and it is tarnished, so would need to be polished.

I know collectors / restorers like to take these things apart and put them back together, so maybe some Listian can make use of this! Or give it to your favorite repair person for Christmas!

ok...what size is this watch?
could you post a photo of it next to a ruler or say a quarter for reference?
when you say it does not work? does it wind or tick at all? does it resist winding, like it is jammed and can not be wound further?

1-3/4" (sorry that was omitted -- I usually put the size of everything in the description) Tis the season; I guess my mind is on too many other things! :) It does wind, but seems tight, like maybe it is over-wound? It does not tick at all. Hope this helps!
