The listing, °VINTAGE LANTERN × DIETZ COMET° has ended.
Marketed by Dietz as the official of the Boy Scouts, The Comet was produced from the 50's-60's. There is no exact date on the lantern. This one is battery powered and runs on two D cell batteries. The battery terminals and internal wiring are very clean. It takes a bulb that can be ordered online for 99¢. The overall condition is great considering the age, a few chips here and there but no significant damage. Original globe is intact with no damage! The cover for the bottom was lost about 30 years ago and I last saw it lit about 15 years ago. It weighs 15 Oz without batteries and stands about 9 inches tall without the wire hanger up, when it is extended 13 inches or so. Would make a great display piece or use it outdoors. A great vintage item. I'm assuming it still works, but I don't know for sure.
