Do you know if this is a real silver dollar or the silver-colored version of this coin? If you could tell me how much this weighs in grams, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, and good luck.
All I can tell you is what I wrote. I know nothing about coins except it's a coin called a silver dollar period! Sorry I'm not a collector. Just a granny...
This coin is NOT silver. All silver Ike's were minted at San Francisco, and since this coin has no mint mark, it was minted at Philadelphia. Still a very collectible coin!
Honey I'm sixty one years old. We've called these coins silver dollars since I was a child ! I did not say it was pure silver or anything else . It's just a coin called a silver dollar ! If you don't want it go away !
When you were a child, they really were silver dollars. I remember that, because I am 62. :) We always called them that. The younger generation, however, does not always realize that "silver dollar" is no longer silver. That's why we have to be careful in our auctions, to make sure they realize it.
Thanks for the info Woozle; I didn't realize they were all minted in SF. I'll look for that in the future. And don't worry, April, any one of "our" generation could have made the same mistake. Now you'll know for the future. Good luck on the auction.
