Whether or not it works, is almost irrelevant because this is an excellent example of Art Deco design and has flavors of the World Exhibit of 1930! This is a piece of historic art design & as such should probably be in an exhibit in some gallery! The lines and notes of design on this piece are so reminiscent of the era in which it was made!! Remarkable one of a kind item!! Thanks for sharing this with us!!!

sugarmuffin88, I do not know if this item is refillable or not. I think that it is refillable though from the looks of it. This is an item that was given to me to sell from somebody at my local flea market. I do not know much about it yet.
