Then you should return it....
This one worked for us, we mounted it on our front window and it stopped our dog from barking at people walking on the sidewalk in front of our house. The only downfall was that we went through batteries keeping it on constantly. Kind of rude making a statement like you did on someone else's auction-- Perhaps your batteries were low, you had on wrong sensitivity level or were more than 20 ft. away
