These grow in Full Sun to Partial Shade locations. The farther south you live, the more afternoon shade this Canna Lily will appreciate. Its foliage has a tendency to brown up a bit the more it is exposed to the hotter part of the day. They also put out more of their gorgeous Bright Yellow blooms with afternoon shade. Ranging in height from 4ft to 6ft, Richard Wallace Canna are hardy in USDA zones 7a thru 11.

They bloom from mid-summer into early fall. Do not let these dry out between waterings, but keep their soil consistently moist - - These thrive very happily, regardless of afternoon shade or lack of it, when planted near bogs or around water gardens, ponds, &tc. They like their soil to have a pH 6.1 - 7.5, mildy acidic to neutral.

Mine are thriving for the past 4 years in my mildy alkaline soil, amended with organic compost twice a year.

Propagation : Divide the rhizomes every 3-4 years. These will naturalise quickly. My original 3 rhizomes were 12 in the second year. These do not set seed. The flowers are sterile.
