A miniature gourmet salad green that is one of the most sought after early spring greens. Broad, dark-green leaves form rosettes which may be harvested continuously. The texture is soft and buttery. The flavor is delicate with a hint of nut and mint.
Select sunny to partly shady, well drained location and sow seed in late Spring or late Summer for fall harvest. Can b e planted in flats or cold frames 3-4 weeks before transplanting outdoors or raise to maturity in the trays. For best results, loosen soil with spade or fork, fertilize with vegetable food and smooth with rake. Seed 1/4 in deep. Harvest by cutting plants just above the soil level when rosettes are around 3" across. After thinning spacing should be a minimum of 2". Touching does not hinder size.
