This CIRCULATED 2008 coin (Picture is Stock Photo) commemorates Álvaro Obregón (1880-1928). Sonoran revolutionary whose military skills made him the most important military arm of Constitutionalism. He stressed in his fight against both federal forces and against conventioneers, when he defeated at El Bajio the Division of the North of Francisco Villa. His radicalism confronted with moderate positions of Carranza and took him to enact the Plan of Agua Prieta against Prime Constitutionalist Chief. He was president of Mexico from 1920 to 1924 during his tenure agrarianism prompted the formation of labor organizations, gained international recognition of the new regime and initiated the implementation of the anti-clerical provisions of the Constitution. In 1928, he tried to hold the presidency of the Republic again, but was assassinated by a religious fanatic. With Obregon, Mexico emerged as a contemporary regime that the Mexican Revolution began.
