Could you take a pic of it with a piece of paper with the word "Listia" on it, to verify that it is real, in your possession, and not old pics? Since you are new to Listia, it will do a lot to help secure your reputation, which is SUPER important in these auctions. Just a heads up! :) F & W - Merry Christmas!
This is an Epiphone Les Paul Junior, a single pick up guitar so what you are thinking are holes, darlenedunnavarnt, are actually the tone and volume control knobs. It's an electric guitar, I have the ebony version of it and I'm quite fond of it actually. The pick up is probably a 400T uncovered pup as was mine. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't the best suited to the music I play and swapped it out. Which is very easy if you know soldering. Can we get a picture of the back of the head? I'd like to see the serial number and where it was made. Mine is from Indonesia and I love the way it came set up out of the box. Is it yellow or white? The 2 pics are contradictory, no fault of your own, I had a camera that would do that too. $25 and credits (depending on how many all told) for this guitar are a good deal for sure. f&w
I forgot to mention that the distinction of Junior has nothing to do with it's size, it's a full sized guitar, just with the basics as Les wanted to present an entry level guitar for the beginner or for the traveling player that needed a guitar that can take the beatings of a life on the road. The LPJ has a great reputation and many present day players will often remove the neck pick up to remove the drag the magnets put on the strings to improve sustain, as all Gibson style Juniors now have 2 pick ups, negating the advantage of the single pick up design. That's the advantage of the Epiphone over the Gibson brand despite not being made in America. Also, though Epi's have their naysayers, this is often now attributable to the elitists who think there is nothing as good as a Gibson, while I see more and more musicians of national fame playing the new Epi's (for a quick reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Epiphone_players ) as the quality has become better and better. Find the last Golden Gods award show and see how many are playing Epi's now, just to make a point. Get you paws on a new Epi with Probucker pick ups and you'll hear a killer guitar, btw, as good as any Gibson Probucker imho.
How old is this. Is it one from Kalamazoo? My first guitar was an Epiphone when I was 15 years old. I am 58 now so they've been around awhile. I heard Gibson moved their factory to Mex and was wondering if the Epiphone part went too. I loved that guitar. I played the frets right off and had to capo it up to the third fret to play it....Wish I still had that one. Fanned and Watching
Does that say Junior on the head? Is this a small beginner's guitar? Those are nice for packing around and have a great sound for blues. The small guitars have a sound like the original black blues artists from the early 50's and 60's Twangy. Can you relate to that remark. Does this have a tinny, twangy sound to it. How's it sound when not plugged in? Thanks. Merry Christmas
Thanks for clarifying and answering my question about the "holes." Also, I am your current High Bidder. If you would kindly write Listia on a piece of paper, set it by the Guitar, post it here with your other pictures, it would really help to still any fears I have acquired from reading comments and after bidding so many credits on this guitar. Thanks so much for understanding, show the nay- Sayers they are wrong by posting a Listia pic, and have a very Merry Christmas!
