When you cast the sorcery "Death Grasp," you decide it's mana cost, and then deal the chosen amount in damage to target creature or player, while gaining that much life. So if you need to take your opponent down a notch and gloat at the same time, this is the card to play.

"Zealous Persecution" may only be an Uncommon, but it's got a few things going for it. It gives you +1/+1 on every creature you have, and gives your opponent "-1/-1 on each of his creatures. The fact that it's an Instant makes it the perfect card to throw with no summoning sickness when you're in a tight spot. (I just love Instants.)

These two cards are must-haves for a basic white/black deck since they hit at the heart of your opponent life or power and give you an added benefit at the same time.
