Jamie let me help you out. Everyone its a way to have wireless internet wherever you go just like on your phone but this way you can connect any wifi devices. You can buy a plan from verizon just like paying for Internet. It has to be verizon for this device. As stated above you can do pay as you go or a contract. You do not have to have phones or any other service with them its just like if you walked in and bought a new phone. Its only to allow you to connect to the internet.
