The listing, OpenBook Pro - MSI Wind netbook with Mac OS X Leopard - NEW has ended.

Hello Listia Community!

Up for auction is a Brand New modified MSI Wind netbook from MacWind (as seen on Gizmodo). It's a top-of-the-line OpenBook Pro and retailed for $889 on MacWind's site. Here's a bit more info and the specs:

Specifications:
- Color: Black Mica
- 10.1" WSVGA Antiglare LED Display
- 1.6GHz Intel Atom LPC Processor
- 2GB DDR-2 Ram
- Upgraded 802.11n Wifi
- Mac OS X Leopard!
- US+ International Keyboard upgrade (great for US users and those in Canada alike)
- 6-cell Upgraded High-Capacity Battery
- Built-in webcam and microphone

This netbook runs Apple's next-gen Leopard OS with speed and ease. Great for students to graphic designers. Comes with box, charger, and everything.

Shipping:
- Free in the US
- $15 to Canada, unless >500credits
- No other worldwide shipping.

So, in a nutshell, it's a great netbook that's new and runs Mac OS X. I realize this is a big item, so feel free to direct any questions to the comments.

Happy Bidding!

I don't think 4500 is that much at all and I really doubt the big bidding is done either... I know I'd WIN this if I could.
I wonder how many points my iPhone 3gs would earn me if I listed it for 1 day and overnight shipped it :) blah too risky haha

The max, min, bet you can set is 100 I think but it isn't that which would be too risky to list my iPhone. It's that I don't have my wings yet so getting the points in time might not pan out. Maybe next time for me :)
Winner of this auction is going to be so lucky! I'd love to be able to win a computer for listing extra stuff from around the house

Well man if you do decide to list that iPhone, I'll start the bidding off at 3000. Good luck on Listia :D

Don't worry, Craig, I will bid. Just biding my time. I am a little worried about the OS X 10.6.2 update blocking Atom processors though... :-/

It does, but a modified kernel should fox that...

Few questions for you: 1. Card reader? 2. Could you include a Windows recovery disc/partition in case OS X gets jacked up by Apple? 3. HD size? Thanks!

Card Reader works perfectly. HDD is 160GB

Well never hurts to bid... also, he might not want to go "all-in". BTW: I can try to get the 10.6.2 update before I ship it out (Snow Leopard). No promises, but I'll definitely try it.

^ Hmm... looks like I'll have to use a modified kernel. Bummer.

Ah, well, I'm sure the Hackintosh folks will release a fix sooner or later.

True. 10.5.8 is pretty stable build for the Wind and atom though. The fact that OS X even runs so well is pretty remarkable...

Surprised bidding is only at 4500 on a $889 notebook...

Technically, retail of this OpenBook nano v.s. retail of the Panasonic TV... this weighs in at $300 more.

The more you know...

So, like, bid. :D

I'm not sure about the math. Doesn't an MSI Wind run around $299 these days? The MacOS upgrade from MacWind (before they were shut down) was an extra $100. Extra gig of RAM is around $20. I think the TV is pretty close or above the value of this Netbook.

That said, I think it's very cool that you listed it and I may even bid myself...not sure if I want to save my credits or spend them right now. I already have a Netbook but it's not a model I can easily hack to run MacOS.

I was just basing retail off of MacWind's web site price on an OpenBook nano configured this way.

Thanks and hope you decide to bid =)!

There is probably an F.A.Q. but since you're right here. If I bid, do I get my points right back when I lose the top bid?
Oct 27th, 2009 at 9:04:05 PM PDT by
Original
Yes you do get your points back immediately once you are outbid. It's similar to eBay's proxy-bidding.
Oct 27th, 2009 at 9:06:28 PM PDT by

One more thing... if bidding reaches 7,000, I'll even throw in a new-in-packaging matching and branded softcase!
