Purple butterfly is a Coldwater Creek piece. It's about 1.75 inches at the widest part and is made from enameled metal. There's also some blue and some brown. The metal is silver toned, but you don't really see the color of the metal; you can wear this with other gold or silver jewelry. (I don't know what the metal is; there's a stamp that I can't magnify enough to read.)

The other pin is an irregular round ceramic disk, about 1.75 inches across, with a butterfly and thistle design pressed into it. The design is in blue. This one was an art fair find.

The closures on both these pins have those little safety locks that spin around to keep the pin closed. Both are secure.
