These will work on .22 rifles also.

I'm not sure if it will mount on a 22 but if you can get it to mount properly I don't see why it wouldn't work. BUT, I bought this at wal mart for a pellet rifle, so don't expect it to be a high end rifle scope because its not. If I recall correctly I spent close to 20$ for it. I am sure if you took it up to a local gun smith they could give you a better insight. Hope that helps.

blockrunner, it should work on your Savage if it is grooved on top of the receiver. I had one on my old Marlin model 60. it's not a great hunting scope, but does well for plinking or target shooting.
