this was purchased for and works with a Dell Inspiron laptop. BUT it is a very common class Adapter, you can find out online (Google It) what kind you need before bidding on this.

My 90 watts is reaching the end of its useable life. You think this 65 wats would work just as well.

Yepp or go to eBay and type in laptop make/model then charger and look and see how many watts they are,I've got a Inspiron 1545 and studio 1536 and both use the pa12 family charger both 65 w so it may work for him but may just charge slower

Yes Inspiron 1545 is what I was using this on and my other two laptops as well. Lenovo and Dell as well
