I do not know what type of fabric this is but it is definately NOT Cotton and would not work for quilting (the reason I can't use it).

It does have a bit of a shine it is light weight and I think it could be used for curtains or maybe clothes or crafts. I would say it is a "wash by hand in cold water only and hang to dry" type fabric. I tried to iron a small piece of this when I got it and it shriveled right up..oops...so, yeah, I would not recommend ironing it either. LOL
