Description

The listing, ANCIENT BRONZE ROMAN COIN has ended.

THIS COIN IS VERY WORN. YOU CAN STILL SEE A HEAD ON ONE SIDE AND A MAN WITH HIS FOOT UP ON A CHARIOT WITH SOMEONE FOLLOWING HIM ON THE OTHER.I DON,T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THIS COIN. I GOT IT FROM A FRIEND WHO GOT IT FROM HIS UNCLE YEARS AGO. I ASKED A LOCAL COLLECTOR ABOUT IT AND THIS IS WHAT HE TOLD ME. A.D. 364-378 Valens Bronze Reduced Follis
Valens was named co-emperor by his older brother Valentinian I, and placed in control of the eastern portion of the empire. Though Valens was successful in many major battles, he was defeated and killed in A.D. 378 by the Visigoths, during the battle of Adrianople.

Hand struck more than 1,600 years ago
Each bronze coin bears the portrait of Valens on the obverse
Recalls one of Rome’s worst defeats, marking the beginning of the end for the empire this ancient Roman bronze follis deserves a place in your collection.

These usually sell on E-Bay for 1 to 3 dollars, sometimes more if the coin looks really good.

It's great that you've been able to identify it. There's enough detail on the reverse to identify it too. Tell the winner to go here: http://romancoin.info/ If stoneman545 can get these coins for $1-3 each on eBay, he should go ahead and buy them all up. The only Roman coins selling for that price are the uncleaned coins that have details buried under encrusted dirt.

Yes, i have seen this myself. there are so many of them out there. the collector i talked to said they go anywhere from 8.00 to 80.00 depending on the condition.he said that he would guess this one to be worth about 10.00 in its condition. but the price keeps going up every year.
