From 1942-1945 nickel became a much needed commodity for the war effort. For those 4 years the nickels were made of a copper/manganese/silver composition. The nickels for those years were 35% silver. They all have the P mint mark; it was done like that with hopes that most of them could be recovered easier.

The coin is definitely in circulated condition and does have wear. The coin pictured is the one you will receive.
