If compatible with straight talk, can't u use the $30 prepaid card? Why does it have to be $50?

This is a net10 phone, not straight talk, and $30 card isn't able to be used with a smart phone cuz of data usage I think...i dunno how to explain, but it says on the $30 card u cannot use with smart phone.
