FREE: Odd Fellows Medal

This auction is for an Odd Fellows Medal. I found this metal detecting last week. I did some research and found very little about this particular item. So I contacted an Odd Fellows museum and they were pleased to see some photos I took of it. They wanted me to donate it, but they have a lot of similar things already and I would rather see someone get this who will hold it in a private collection. On the back it is stamped SCHWAAB S&S. MILWAUKEE. It stands for Schwaab Stamp and Seal Company. This dates from 1888 to 1911. On the top of this medal there are two holes where there would have been two chains hanging this from a pin back. The few photos I could find showed the pin back saying SOUVENIR on it. The medal itself says CELEBRATION. INDEPENDENT ORDER ODD FELLOWS. There is the all seeing eye on the top center of this piece. The left has a beehive. On the right are three columns. The letters F,L,T are inside of the rings of the chain links under the eye. They stand for Friendship, Love, and Truth. This is one of the oldest fraternities in the world, dating back well over 250 years. There is a very slight bend to it, but it does not take away from the beauty of this item. I cleaned lightly with lemon juice and salt. No scratching. Soaked and rinsed only. It did a fantastic job of removing debris and did not harm the patina at all.
