Honey ball Bush is an attractive large woody shrub with showy, fragrant ball-shaped flower heads. Ours in zone 5 does not demand any large amount of water. They are very hardy. They can grow to 6 feet to 8 feet or more. You can trim them to any height. Plant your Honey ball Bush shrubs in a sunny soil. The fragrant flowers are a favorite nectar source for butterflies and bees. Cephalanthus occidentalis Bush shrub provides excellent nesting area for songbirds. You could winter sow them and have them come up as nature would. Generally plant them as deep as the seed size. You can plant them 18" apart or where you want them to grow. We have not seen any invasive properties to the bush. For the first year after they start growing, be sure to water regularly, watering at least once a week. More if it is dry or hot.
