this is a large barrel right? i have long hair past my butt. im thinking this would give me nice large curls?

Yes it is very large a 2 inch barrel. Remember it gets very hot. So if you get it make sure you start your curl at least mid way up your hair shaft so you don't burn the ends of your hair. It does have a heat adjuster on it so you can turn it up or down.
