The listing, The Wizard's Box pastel 4x6 print on glossy paper has ended.
Surreal magic! The hooded, cloaked wizard looks through the darkness and into his magical box glowing from within. Does it contain the enchanted answers of light, or like Pandora's Box, and full of demons and the forces evil? Let's just open it and find out!
A note on its creation:
This is actually a still life. My model for the wizard, was none other than Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars. The magical box is a lantern. The floor was inspired by an African pillowcase. The Roman column is a large pillar candle. I'm just a silly man playing with my dollies and decorations and imagining it all to be mystical sorcery.
This fantasy is one of my dry media artworks. They are sometimes called "paintings" or "drawings", but the word "Pastel" is the only correct word. As a noun or verb.
Dry pastel (powdered pigment crayons) is my medium of choice. Unlike many traditional practitioners, I don't go for the delicate lightness of the smudgy artform. I use the stick like a brush with harsh strokes and I'm not afraid to use the black like a charcoal stick.
