These tokens bring back wonderful childhood memories of the 1960's when you go to the gas station and sit in your car while a gas station attendant pumps the gas and cleans your wind shields as a courtesy. If was true service and you never had to get out of your car. The two gas stations my parents used were Shell and Standard; occasionally Chevron. Both Shell & Standard gas stations would always give the kids in the car either a package of Smarties Candy, Candy Cigarettes, or a lollipop. And of course there were also the promotional games as this one with the coins.
The Shell Oil Company created & ran numerous promotional games for customers. These 3 particular games ran during 1968-1969. Through my research I'm been unable to determine whether or not these games ran concurrently or at individual time frames. All the coins contain the Shell ® registered trademark & all President & Famous Facts & Faces coins also have the year, 1968. I believe they are all aluminum as they are very light weight.

Listia rules state that members are not allowed to reference or name other websites on Listia auctions. Therefore I'll just say that there are many of these listed on that huge well known auction website w\ starting bids of .99 cents and "Buy It Now" prices of up to $30 or more so I can't state a definitive market value. This auction has a whopping 104 of these unique coins which I actually consider as token since they're not legal tender.

Yes, but tracking is only necessary if you don't trust me and if you want to assure the post office doesn't "lose" it. We use to ONLY accept money orders but the shipping time frame was horrible when having to wait to receive it. Sometimes the winner didn't put it in the mail for 7 days and we didn't receive until 3-5 days later. By the time the winner rec'd the item it was over 2 weeks; in upwards of 3 wks in some cases.

With PayPal the winner can send the fee to us instantly without having to have a PayPal account as long as they have a debit or credit card. We can then mail the next day, assuring the winner receives it within a few days verses a few weeks......THUS ASSURING EVERYONE IS A HAPPY CAMPER!.

Wish we could always provide free shipping but when we know an item is going to cost us $3-$5 to mail and will likely have a final bid under 5,000, it's basically a LOSS for us to have listed the auction.
