Description

The listing, Vintage 1970's Or 1980's Tonka Metal Toy Truck has ended.

Hello all, I have no idea if this is worth something or not but I figured that maybe a collector of vintage or antique toys or cars would find some interest in this. All I know is that it's either from the 1970's or the 1980's, it's an all metal toy Tonka Truck. I don't have a tape measure but it looks to be about a foot long. It's NOT a tiny truck Any questions asked would only be able to be answered about what is on the truck itself. I took lots of pictures from all sides an angles. I don't see any dents but there is a little bit of rust in some spots and the blue paint is chipped. Maybe it's not rust maybe that's the metal underneath the paint. The windows are plastic & I think the fender is plastic. Which doesn't make sense since that's the part that's fake metal lol
This is in old & vintage condition and is sold as is. I have explained it to the best of my knowledge, there is no buyers remorse & I hope whoever wins this enjoys this item for another 30 or 40 years :-)
Important info-
I use UPS and they will not allow me to ship to P.O. Boxes, so if you have one I will need you to send me a physical address

I grew up playing with big metal trucks and lost them over the years. I have a toy room now and trying to re-coop all the toys I can remember I had in my 60 year old brain !

Lol that's fun. Listia is a great place to try & find old memorabilia. I bet your toy room is pretty cool. If I was ever going to have a collection room it would be on back to the future memorabilia. I have found some cool stuff off of here. :-) good luck to you

Ya, idk what happened, yesterday I updated the listing cuz I forgot to mention that this is not a tiny truck, I clicked the update button & all of my 10-15 pictures just disappeared. I'm so annoyed. I put in a support ticket to Listia but they are taking too long to get back to me so I'm just about to try uploading new pictures. How crazy huh? In almost 3 years on Listia nothing like that has ever happened to me. But check back in about 5-10 minutes. I'm going to put them back up. Thanks for commenting :-)

Neat item. In the 50's they were given through Gooches Best Rewards, My mother got me the full set. They were metal and were large toys with working parts. Gave them to my nephews who took them to Italy and left them. Have the set of metal miniatures. This will go with my collection of toys!!

Hmm for some strange reason I'm not getting notified of comments on this listing. So sorry, I would have replied a while ago. That would be super awesome if you got this. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I think this truck is pretty cool, but I have a 1 year old & a 3 year old that I'm afraid will give each other some nice knots on the noggin with this lol it's pretty heavy for a toy. It looks like this came with a back but I don't think I have that part. I'm going to double check. Good luck to you, I'm glad people that will truely enjoy this are finding my auction :-)

I'm looking all over for it but I don't see it. I should google toy Tonka trucks from the 70's or 80's & see if this pops up. I'll keep looking, maybe I'm missing it. If I find it I will post it in the updates. It might have been on the back of the truck which obviously I don't have. If you are familiar with these type of vintage trucks, do you know where I need to look to find it? Thank you for your comment.

Hmm I just got your comment tho lol ugh!! Listia is glitching on me lately. But that happened to me too. I couldn't figure out what was going on & then after 3 months of not getting any emails from them I looked in my spam folder, I never thought of looking there cuz I've been on Listia everyday for almost 3 years. Why in the world would they all of the sudden go into my spam? Lol But also, did you see my 1st comment reply on this listing? Talk about frustrating, geez.. I was just glad that all of my pictures from one of my bead listings with over 100 pieces didn't just up & disappear. But I finally heard back from a Listia moderator & he said he liked this auction so he featured it for me :-) so something good came out of the pictures disappearing. Oh, get this...a friend of mine on here had a crazy glitch the other day, she looked in her "sold" items list and she had 6 auctions from another seller in her list. Wth?? That's crazy huh? Thank you for your comment :-)

Tonka usually has a mfg number somewhere on the frame. try looking on the inside rails.

I seriously am going nuts trying to find it. Where did Tonka hide this darn thing haha. It's not like they made fake toys lol I'm hoping it wasn't on the tail of the truck. I don't see why it would have been but maybe it was. What can I do if I can't find it? I'm not a rookie I know about serial numbers but it's no where to be found ugh!! If I do find it I will for sure post it in the updates

I have a red truck very similar. Has been in my closet tucked away since I was in 2nd grade(thats a long time ago lol). Didn't realize how neat of an item I had until I saw what the bid is up to! Very cool item! F&W!

That's awesome that you have that saved. Somewhere in my moms garage I have the entire 1st edition of my little pony dolls from the early 80's when we put them in that box in the garage who knew that the collection would be worth a couple hundred. Ya know? There is something else that I have that I was thinking of listing before my kids ruin them, lol I have 3 Terminator action figures from the early 90's I wonder how those would do too? It's probably time to go into your closet & take that cool truck out & play with it again. Lol old kids toys are fun when your an adult. :-)

Just realized what the missing piece is - it's the trailer for an 18-wheeler. Just looked at my miniatures and found it!!

Ah ha!! Hmm I wonder if it's possible to find that part. Depending on how big it is, I think the truck probably looks cooler without a big trailer but that's just me. Thanks for figuring that out. With that part I bet this truck is super heavy. How in the world did kids play with this 30 or 40 years ago without busting their heads open lol I can just picture 2 brothers fighting over who's turn it was to play with it & next thing ya know, a lovely trip to the ER lol
